LAREDO, Texas —The City of Laredo’s Commission for Women (LCW) will announce the 2022 inductees for the Women’s Hall of Fame during a media reception on Tuesday, March 15th at IBC Bank. The selection was made from applications that were submitted by the citizens of Laredo. The inductees were recommended by the Selection Committee and the commission was later approved by the Laredo City Council on February 2022.
To be eligible, nominees must be women living in Laredo or who were legal residents during their time of service. Elected officials and/or candidates running for office, from all levels of government, and members of City boards, commissions, or committees were not eligible. Nominees must have been active in the category for which they were nominated while their service was performed within city limits. Some categories include education, civic leadership/public service, philanthropy, volunteerism, law enforcement, healthcare, and more. Nominations were accepted with a completed application and supporting documentation.
For the first time ever, a posthumous award will be given to Jovita Idar during the reception.
