Pharr, TX – The Food Bank of the Rio Grande Valley recently received a transformative gift from Lacks Furniture on behalf of a foundation established by their owners, the Aaronson family.  The monies will go towards the food bank’s on-going ‘Resource Readiness and Response’ campaign. The donation of $40,000 will provide up to 200,000 life-sustaining meals for those in need in the Rio Grande Valley.

To provide immediate assistance during this critical time, the Food Bank RGV will partner with Lacks Valley stores for a Drive-Thru Emergency Pantry (DTEP) on Wednesday, October 28, 2020 from 7:00am – 10:00am or until capacity is reached, at the Food Bank RGV located at 724 N. Cage Blvd in Pharr. This distribution will provide food assistance to individuals and families impacted by the health and financial crisis of Covid-19, many who may have never utilized a pantry prior to the global pandemic of Covid-19

This Drive-Thru Emergency Pantry will follow the Food Bank RGV’s mobile drive-thru model of little or no contact. Staff, volunteers, and Lacks Furniture will assist with the distribution of food. Produce and shelf-stable bags of food will be placed into the vehicle trunks of attendees.
