Texas Border Business
Dear Friends, Neighbors, and Colleagues:
With Labor Day fast approaching and signaling an end to summer, many drivers will be on our roadways for one last getaway, making it one of the year’s busiest travel holidays.
Unfortunately, these plans can take a tragic turn in the blink of an eye in often preventable collisions.
The Texas Department of Transportation’s #EndTheStreakTX campaign, which began in 2015, is designed to raise much-needed awareness of behaviors that increase crashes on our roadways. Please join us and all Hidalgo County law enforcement agencies in supporting the campaign by sharing the attached flyer on your social media using the hashtag #EndTheStreakTX.
Working together, we can make a difference to end the streak. According to TxDOT, last year, 44 of our friends and loved ones were killed in fatal crashes.
The majority of these fatalities were caused by preventable mistakes drivers make. Let’s be vigilant and protect each other by being the driver you want next to you, in front of you, and behind you. Please help to encourage Hidalgo County residents to:
· Buckle up
· Don’t be a distracted driver
· Don’t drink and drive
· Drive the speed limit
· Obey traffic laws
· Plan a sober ride home
· Put away your cell phone
Thank you to all participating Hidalgo County law enforcement agencies who have dedicated time and effort to the project:
