McAllen – Keep McAllen Beautiful (KMB) and the City of McAllen’s Project Imagine Tomorrow is gearing up for its annual Paint McAllen Beautiful Project. The project will be coordinated with community volunteers to paint homes at no cost, to low income and/or disabled McAllen homeowners.

Applications are currently being sought for the program.  To meet the requirements applicants must be a McAllen resident, be 60 years of age or older, or have a permanent disability.  The home must be a wood frame home that is owned and occupied by a singular, low-income family.  Volunteers will only paint the exterior of a home and do not provide remodeling or repairs.

Ernesto Sepulveda, KMB board member will again serve as Chairperson for this project.

“This is a very worthwhile project that helps revitalize the community,” Sepulveda said. “It is great to see volunteers from all over the community come together to help beautify the home of an elderly or disabled homeowner.”

Everyone can participate. Volunteers come from all walks of life such as students, business leaders, civic and non-profit organizations, individuals, families, community and religious groups, sororities, fraternities, sports teams, and the military.

Keep McAllen Beautiful is dedicated to informing citizens on litter prevention, improving waste reduction practices, coordinating beautification projects.  The City of McAllen’s Project Imagine Tomorrow is an urban renewal and revitalization project that seeks to restore and reconnect neighborhoods.  Paint McAllen Beautiful is funded through a generous grant from the BBVA Compass Foundation.

Currently, Keep McAllen Beautiful is seeking both volunteers and applicants for this project. Individuals must be 14 years or older to volunteer. To refer a potential applicant or to volunteer, contact the organization at www.keepmcallenbeautiful.org or call 681‐4562 for more details.
