Karina Anguiano, president of Women’s Circle, was recognized during the Women with Purpose celebration for her work in providing mental health support and wellness resources for women in the Rio Grande Valley.
Anguiano was introduced as part of a group of partner organization representatives by Raquel Mahe, who invited participants “to briefly share the support they offer and how they contribute to the well-being of our community” before calling each name, including Anguiano.
She was selected for her leadership in developing a support network to address the emotional and psychological challenges faced by women, particularly those navigating life transitions such as migration. During her remarks, Anguiano explained that her work was shaped by personal experience, describing how emigrating “became a source of sheer emotional terror.”
Anguiano said this experience led her to study the emotional and psychological impacts affecting women who arrive in new environments, often feeling isolated. She stated that Women’s Circle was created as “a space staffed by professionals dedicated to mental and physical health,” offering support designed to improve overall well-being.
The organization provides services including emotional support, mental health resources, and specialized care, including support for women facing serious health conditions. Anguiano described the initiative as a comprehensive approach aimed at helping women feel “at the very peak of their potential.”
The event was organized by Roberta Garza through Mujeres Arriba RGV as part of its seventh annual celebration commemorating International Women’s Month, bringing together community leaders and organizations focused on empowerment and support.
Anguiano’s recognition highlights her role in expanding access to mental health resources and creating a structured support system for women seeking stability and well-being in the region.
