Good Samaritan Community Services – Rio Grande Valley (GSCS – RGV) is humbled and excited to announce Justice Dori Contreras Garza will receive the Good Samaritan Award on the evening of Tuesday, September 9th, 2014. Justice Garza is a former member of the GSCS-RGV Advisory Board.

“Throughout her life, Justice Garza has served as a role model to so many,” said GSCS CEO Jill Oettinger. “She is extremely dedicated to improving her community and passionate about helping others. She is a natural choice for this year’s award.”

The Good Samaritan Award will be granted at a festive, collegiate themed dinner at The Pharr Events Center at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 9th and will celebrate the Justice’s impact on the community and many nonprofits in Pharr and across South Texas. The event committee will spend countless hours making this event a tribute to Justice Garza and a successful fundraiser for GSCS – RGV.

“Former recipients of this award, previously known as “Celebrating Community Commitment”, include Senator Juan (Chuy) Hinojosa, Dr. King (PSJA), Charles Butt (HEB) and Roland Arriola, Sr. (TVCF) in 2011, Kirk Clark (Clark Chevrolet) in 2012, and Dr. Nelson (UTPA) and Dr. Reed (STC) in 2013, are all individuals that give selflessly to improving the lives of those around them. And we are honored to have Judge Garza join this distinguished group of past recipients; as we acknowledge Dori’s dedication to Good Samaritan Community Services Rio Grande Valley,” said Oettinger.
