The Houston Chronicle has endorsed Dori Contreras run for the Texas Supreme Court, Place 5. She has also received the endorsements of The Dallas Morning News and the Corpus Christi Caller Times. “I am grateful to all the editorial boards for their acknowledgement of the importance of my candidacy and the need for change on the Texas Supreme Court,” she told Texas Border Business.

  • “She’ll bring different personal and ideological perspectives to a court that has been critiqued as leaning in favor of corporations and state authority at the expense of everyday Texans.” Houston Chronicle
  • “We recommend her because we think she’s unusually qualified and would deepen the courts gender and ethnic diversity while also adding a new ideological perspective.” The Dallas Morning News
  • “We’ve always been impressed that she was an accountant before she became a lawyer and that she was a mother who worked her way through law school. Garza also would give this diversity-challenged court a second Hispanic, a third woman and — here’s another element lacking on the court — a longtime Rio Grande Valley resident.” Corpus Christi Caller Times

She also pointed out, “I’m working hard every day, traveling across Texas to spread my message. Our Texas Supreme Court has been represented by a single political party for approximately 20 years. It’s time to make a change and elect me to help balance the court by adding gender and ethnic diversity, and a new ideological perspective.”
