WESLACO – Hidalgo County Justice of the Peace Pct. 1, Pl. 2 Andrew Gonzalez will honor the late Justice of the Peace Jesus E. Morales in the renaming of the Justice Court to carry on his legacy. A ribbon cutting ceremony will be held on Friday, January 16 at 11 a.m. at the court located at 1902 Joe Stephens Ave. Suite 302 in Weslaco.
Judge Jesus E. Morales was born in Weslaco, Texas on January 14, 1944. He was elected as the Justice of the Peace for Precinct 1 Place 2 and began his tenure on January 1, 1991. Judge Morales served Hidalgo County for 33 years until his death on June 18, 2024.
“Judge Morales will be remembered as a judge for the people. Even though he was a public official, he did not seek public recognition. What he cared about most was serving his community with integrity and conviction,” said Judge Gonzalez.
