Jorge A. Torres Appointed to South Texas College Foundation Board

McALLEN, Texas – Jorge A. Torres, President and CEO of Interlink Trade Services, has been appointed to the South Texas College Foundation Board of Directors, according to a letter issued by the Foundation in February 2026.

In the appointment letter, Foundation leadership stated, “Your appointment to the Foundation Board reflects our confidence in your leadership, your commitment to education, and your belief in the transformative power of philanthropy.” The letter was signed by Dr. Rodney H. Rodriguez, Vice President of Institutional Advancement & External Affairs; Dr. Marcos Silva, Executive Director of the South Texas College Foundation & External Affairs; Ms. Marcela Beas, Director of the South Texas College Foundation & Fundraising; and Ms. Laura Warren, President of the South Texas College Foundation Board of Directors.

Torres is a U.S.-licensed customs broker and international trade expert who founded Interlink Trade Services, a McAllen-based firm specializing in customs brokerage, trade compliance, logistics, and cross-border consulting between the United States and Mexico. With more than 30 years of experience, he has worked with companies on import and export operations, tariff compliance, and supply chain challenges.

In an interview on February 20, 2026, Torres told Texas Border Business he was “honored to be selected and invited to participate, and I proudly accepted.” He emphasized the importance of his industry to the Rio Grande Valley, stating, “International trade and logistics are vital to our region, and my goal is to help develop programs and job opportunities in these industries.”

The South Texas College Foundation supports scholarships, Promise programs, and workforce initiatives. Asked which priorities he plans to champion, Torres said, “As a board member, my goal is to help develop programs in international trade and logistics and to assist students in obtaining jobs in these industries.”

Torres also outlined how he intends to use his professional network to support students. “I am committed to working very hard with my peers and industry partners to ensure they have adequate human resources to fill positions in international trade and logistics, and to develop solid programs that equip students with the best possible skills to fill these positions,” he said.

He described his motivation for serving as rooted in education and mentorship. “I am a true believer in developing and uplifting our future generations,” Torres said. “We need to provide better opportunities in our region, and we can accomplish this by education, mentoring, and providing all the necessary support, including financial support.” He added, “We will raise funds to provide scholarships and financial aid to those students who want to pursue careers in international trade and logistics.”

Reflecting on his appointment, Torres said, “I am very proud and honored to be a part of this distinguished group of professionals and community leaders.” He added that a diverse board “will provide many opportunities for students and help them succeed and overcome challenges, including financial ones and job opportunities.”

The Foundation stated that board members play a vital role in strengthening its culture of philanthropy and securing resources to expand access and opportunity for students across South Texas College.
