Texas Border Business
EDINBURG, Texas – On Wednesday, U.S. Border Patrol agents working in collaboration with local agencies disrupted a stash house, which led to the discovery and arrest of 18 illegal aliens.
Yesterday morning, Rio Grande Valley Sector agents received information that a residence in Mission, Texas, was operating as a human smuggling stash house. Agents requested the assistance of the Hidalgo County Sherriff’s Office and the Mission Police Department in the investigation. Authorities arrived to the suspect location and, as they approached the house, several subjects attempted to abscond. In addition to those subjects, agents and deputies observed several individuals inside. A total of 18 illegal aliens and two caretakers were removed from the residence without incident. The subjects encountered are from Mexico, Guatemala, El Salvador, Honduras, and Nicaragua.
Border Patrol processed the subjects accordingly.
Even with the spread of the COVID-19 virus, human smugglers continue to try these brazen attempts with zero regard for the lives they endanger nor to the health of the citizens of our great nation. The U.S. Border Patrol agents of the Rio Grande Valley Sector will continue to safeguard the nation and community against these criminal elements.
U.S. Customs and Border Protection is the unified border agency within the Department of Homeland Security charged with the management, control and protection of our nation’s borders at and between the official ports of entry.
