RIO GRANDE VALLEY – The Western Athletic Conference (WAC) announced on Monday that junior middle blocker Veronika Jandova of The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) volleyball team is the WAC Defensive Player of the Week.
Jandova averaged a WAC-high 1.86 blocks per set, leading all blockers with six in a 3-0 win over Seattle U on Thursday, and a season-high tying seven in a 3-1 win over California Baptist on Thursday.
Jandova had a strong week offensively, averaging 2.14 kills per set on .400 hitting, including a career-high 13 kills on .579 on Saturday.
UTRGV continues this four-match homestand tonight at 7 p.m. against Utah Valley at the UTRGV Fieldhouse. The first 200 UTRGV students in attendance will receive free tacos.
