The awardee was born and raised in Rio Grande City but lived mostly in Mission. He graduated from college with a Master’s Degree in School Administration. He has served as president of Mission Rotary, Mission Kiwanis, Leadership Mission, Mission Boys and Girls Club, Valley Jaycee Congress, Bryan School PTO, and Region One Education Association.
He served on the Mission City Council for 10 years and on the Mission CISD School Board for six years. He is a life member of TSTA Political Action Council. JD Villarreal has been a REALTOR for fourteen years having earned designations for Accredited Buyer Representative, Military Resource Professional, and Texas Veterans Land Program. J.D. became involved in the Greater McAllen Association of REALTORS® leadership by serving on Education committee (chairing it for two years) and Budget Committee (served 3 years).
He was elected to the Board of Directors before becoming the Secretary and then was elected to serve as President in 2018. In 2017 as the chair of TREPAC he was very supportive of starting the Fishing Tournament and provided the leadership to make it happen. As president, he worked well with all the leadership to support a progressive strategic plan and we know he will continue to represent our industry with integrity and grit.
