Antonio “Tony” Aguirre, known to many as Tony, has been a dedicated McAllen, Texas, city commissioner for the past three and a half years. Recently, Tony took to social media to share his thoughts and plans for the future, announcing his intention to run for re-election in 2025. In his heartfelt message, Tony expressed his ongoing commitment to serving the residents of McAllen and emphasized his belief that “It’s Still Time for Tony.”
“Three-and-a-half years ago, I started serving you as a McAllen city commissioner, and in 2025, I hope you will agree that ‘It’s Still Time for Tony,'” he wrote, capturing his passion for public service and his desire to continue his work on behalf of the community.
Even as the boundaries of District 1 have shifted, Tony reassured his followers that his dedication to all McAllen residents remains loyal. “Although the boundaries of D1 have changed, I remain committed to all McAllen residents, regardless of your district,” he stated, reinforcing his commitment to inclusivity and addressing the city’s needs.
Addressing speculation about his political future, Tony clarified that he intends to remain in public service. “Several people have asked me lately if I plan to run for re-election, so this is just a quick message to let you know that yes, I am,” he confirmed, making his plans public and inviting the community to support him again.
As commissioner, Tony has emphasized the importance of being accessible and responsive to the community. “I have done my best to be responsive to everyone who has contacted me with questions and concerns,” he shared, highlighting his commitment to being a proactive leader who listens to his constituents. He also acknowledged the city’s administration’s support in addressing the issues brought to his attention. “Our city administration has been duly responsive when I contact them to address these questions and concerns,” Tony noted, showcasing a combined approach to governance.
