PHARR – Incoming Pharr-San Juan-Alamo ISD Superintendent Dr. Jorge L. Arredondo signed a 3-year contract today after it was approved by the PSJA ISD School Board during a special called board meeting Thursday, Sept. 26 at the PSJA Early College High School Lecture Hall.
Joined by his wife Veronica, Dr. Arredondo, who has 22 years in the education field after serving as Teacher, Principal, Assistant Superintendent and most recently Area Superintendent for Houston ISD, signed a contract to continue leading the great work of the PSJA ISD School District. Dr. Arredondo will begin his new post on October 1, 2019. The new superintendent’s salary is $275,000.00.
“My plans are to continue the great work that has already been done,” Dr. Arredondo said. “To continue the legacy of being an innovating district and continue growing the relationships and partnerships that have led PSJA ISD where it is today.”
The school board of trustees unanimously approved the contract and it is looking forward to Dr. Arredondo’s tenure at PSJA.
“We are happy to officially welcome Dr. Arredondo to the PSJA Family,” School Board President Jesse Zambrano said. “Throughout the last several days, Dr. Arredondo has been visiting schools and district facilities with Dr. King as he continues to learn about our great district and the vision for our district. We are confident of his abilities, knowledge, and experience and we know that he will lead us to continue to take PSJA to the next level.”
As part of his visits to various district facilities, Dr. Arredondo also met with the new PSJA ISD Chief Rolando Garcia and his team to go over all safety procedures in place to ensure safety practices continue at the forefront of all educational activities.
“I’ve met great teachers and staff these past few days, and I can’t wait to continue to meet the great educators, parents and families of PSJA,” Dr. Arredondo continued. “I look forward to continuing the legacy of excellence.”
Dr. Arredondo plans to visit more schools and programs during his first weeks on the job, as well as meet district partners and community members who play a critical role in the success of PSJA ISD.
