MCALLEN, TX — It was a crisp, wet morning in the 50s at the International Museum of Art & Science as the runners and walkers took their place. Not even a little cold rain could stop this excited group.

This was the first 5K organized in support of military veterans and the International Museum of Art & Science. An active volunteer group, the IMAS Guild planned and organized this great event and had an overwhelming response from the community. Dedicated runners included veterans, families, friends, running groups, and kids.

Special guest Oscar Adame of KRGV Channel 5 News welcomed the crowd and our veterans. IMAS Guild President, Gracie Cobo, and Linda Torline welcomed the honorees and gave thanks for the tremendous community support and sponsors for this run.

The IMAS Guild is dedicated to service to the International Museum of Art & Science as shown through this event and all that goes on behind the scenes. Over the weekend participating runners and veterans with their families had access to the IMAS with free admission, a nod to their service.

The mission of the International Museum of Art & Science is to create an environment that inspires, educates and entertains the public through the arts and sciences. The International Museum of Art & Science (IMAS) is fully accredited by the American Alliance of Museums and is a Smithsonian Affiliated Museum.
