Rio Grande Valley, Texas – IDEA Quest College Preparatory is excited to announce that one of their scholars, Aalihya Del Real, has scored a perfect score on the College Board’s Advanced Placement (AP) Spanish Language and Culture Exam, making her one of only 77 students in the world to earn every point possible on the exam.
IDEA Quest hostedg a pep rally on Friday, November 19 and surprised Aalihya, as this has been kept a secret from her. Amongst a performance by the school’s cheerleaders and a celebration of the basketball teams, the school will announce and recognize Aalihya of her accomplishments in front of the entire school’s peers and staff members to celebrate.
“I am so incredibly proud of Aalihya, and I can no longer contain my excitement from her,” said Maria Teresa McClellan, AP Spanish Language teacher at IDEA Quest. “COVID has brought many difficult obstacles for students, especially learning from home, but she really pushed herself in her schoolwork and for this exam. This exam isn’t easy, even for fluent Spanish speakers as it requires a lot of critical thinking and accuracy in the language. We are so proud of her and want to honor her hard work.”
AP Exams are scored on a scale of 1 to 5 and approximately 140 thousand students participated in this year’s AP Spanish Language and Culture Exam. The exam requires an essay, speaking portion, and reading comprehension with multiple choice questions based on a college-level course. Aalihya received the maximum score on each portion of the exam.
