Rio Grande Valley, Texas - This week, IDEA Public Schools will host our virtual College Signing Day events to honor the Class of 2021.
On Friday, May 14, 2021, beginning at 5 p.m., students, staff, family and the community will be able to view College Signing Day at https://bit.ly/IDEAcsd2021.
College Signing Day is the culmination of years of hard work and marks a momentous occasion in each IDEA student’s academic journey. One hundred percent of seniors have been accepted to college.
“College Signing Day is one of our most treasured traditions and marks a momentous occasion in each student’s academic journey,” says JoAnn Gama, Co-founder and CEO of IDEA Public Schools. “We are proud to celebrate our students’ long-standing commitment to receiving a postsecondary education throughout the coming weeks as each scholar, one by one, reveals where they will attend college this fall.”
The achievements from IDEA Rio Grande Valley’s Class of 2021 includes:
· 1,064 seniors on track to attend college
· 9,539 applications submitted
· 5,591 college acceptances
· 1,832 acceptances to selective and highly selective colleges
· 11 Ivy League acceptances
· $62M in grants and scholarships
· 75% of graduates are the first in their family to attend college
Students from this year’s graduating class have been accepted to Brown University, Columbia University, University of Pennsylvania, Georgetown University, New York University, American University, Naval Academy Preparatory School, University of Notre Dame, University of Chicago, Tufts University, the University of Texas at Austin, University of Texas Rio Grande Valley, and more.
This year, IDEA Weslaco Pike will have its first College Signing Day as it celebrates its inaugural graduating class.
For the 15th consecutive year, 100 percent of seniors have been accepted to college, and for the past 14 years, nearly 100 percent of our graduating seniors have matriculated into college.
