IDEA Public Schools offering FREE Bundled Meals to All Children at Select Campuses

Rio Grande Valley, TX – IDEA Public Schools’ Child Nutrition Program (CNP) will be serving bundled meals at select campuses to all children 18 years and under.

The bundled meals will include breakfast, lunch, and supper. Meal pick-up will be on Friday, February 19, 2021 and pick-up time will vary by campus.

On Wednesday and Thursday of this week, IDEA’s CNP teams in the Rio Grande Valley served 16,000 meals despite the freezing temperatures and many families without power and water.

Below is a list of campuses that will be offering free meals:  

  • IDEA Alamo – 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
  • IDEA Brownsville – 12:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
  • IDEA Donna – 10:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
  • IDEA Elsa – 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
  • IDEA Frontier – 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
  • IDEA Harlingen – 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
  • IDEA Los Encinos – 12:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.
  • IDEA McAllen – 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
  • IDEA Mission – 10:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
  • IDEA North Mission – 10:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
  • IDEA Palmview – 12:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.
  • IDEA Pharr – 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
  • IDEA Quest – 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
  • IDEA Rio Grande City – 9:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.
  • IDEA Riverview – 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
  • IDEA Robindale – 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
  • IDEA San Benito – 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
  • IDEA San Juan Academy – 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
  • IDEA San Juan College Prep – 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
  • IDEA Toros – 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
  • IDEA Tres Lagos – 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
  • IDEA Weslaco – 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.

All meals are provided via curbside pick-up only on a first come, first serve basis. All children in the community that are 18 years old and under are eligible for meal service at any school location. Due to new regulations by the Texas Department of Agriculture (TDA), if a child is not present in the car, parents must be able to show proof of child identity in order to receive meals.  

Forms of identification include: 

  • Official letter/email from school listing children enrolled   
  • Individual student report cards  
  • Attendance record from parent portal of school website  
  • Birth certificate for children  
  • Student ID cards
