IBC-Bank Zapata Donates $3,500 to Texas State University Mariachi Band “Nueva Generacion” After Free Christmas Concert

ZAPATA, TEXAS – IBC Bank-Zapata Chairman of the Board Renato Ramirez and IBC Bank- Zapata President Ricardo Ramirez presented a check for $3,500 to the award-winning Texas State Mariachi Nueva Generación, Texas State University’s Mariachi Band, at IBC Main Bank-Zapata, on Monday, December 17 at 11:00 a.m. The band performed a festive and free Christmas concert for families of all ages.

“In my opinion, Texas State has the best mariachi program in Texas universities,” quipped Renato Ramirez, Chairman of the Board of IBC Bank-Zapata. “We were honored and thrilled to host these incredibly talented musicians and to provide our customers an opportunity to enjoy some free festive holiday music.”

Ramirez and IBC Bank have also provided support to the Mariachi programs at the University of Texas at Austin, Texas A&M University College Station, Texas A&M International-Laredo, and Texas A&M University Kingsville. IBC Bank’s mission of “We Do More” includes providing opportunities for the communities they serve to have access to rich cultural experiences.

Nueva Generación is part of Texas State University’s Latin Music Studies program. Founded in 2003, the Latin Music Studies (LMS) program fosters the performance and study of Latin Music genres—primarily but not exclusively Mariachi and Salsa—according to the highest professional and academic standards.  LMS seeks to educate surrounding communities about the rich world of Latin American Music.
