EDINBURG – A new online form will make it easier for county residents and businesses to report damage caused by Hurricane Hanna to county officials. Created by the Texas Department of Emergency Management, the Hurricane Hanna Self-Reporting Damage Survey allows residents to fill out a form online and submit a request for assistance.
The objective of the form is to assist the Office of Emergency Management and partner agencies as they assess and identify damages and needs within the community.
Reporting damage to Emergency Management is a voluntary activity and is not a substitute for reporting damage to your insurance agency nor does it guarantee disaster relief assistance.
“It is vital that residents call their home insurance provider and report claims there first,” said Emergency Management Coordinator Ricardo Saldaña.
Residents and business owners can report flooding, water leaks, outages, and gas leaks. They can also upload photos showing damage to better assist emergency management staff in responding to requests. The form is also available in Spanish.
Residents are reminded to accurately report their location in order to allow emergency management to prioritize recovery efforts in the most affected areas.
