EDINBURG, Texas – Continuing its human trafficking prevention efforts, Region One Education Service Center (Region One) Staff highlighted efforts to combat human trafficking during a small gathering held Jan. 11 at the Region One Conference Center in Edinburg.


Since acquiring $500,000 from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Service’s Human Trafficking Youth Prevention Education (HTYPE) Demonstration Program, Region One has provided schools with skills-based curricula and professional development to help educators and students prevent and identify human trafficking. Currently, Region One is supporting 10 school districts: Brooks County ISD, Hidalgo ISD, Jim Hogg County ISD, La Joya ISD, Laredo ISD, Lyford CISD, Progreso ISD, Rio Grande City Grulla ISD, Roma ISD and Weslaco ISD.
