Edinburg, TX – The City of Edinburg and the South Texas College (STC) Continuing Education Department are joining forces to bring the community a series of educational, job readiness and certification classes that will take place at the Dustin Michael Sekula Memorial Library. The plan is to provide and expand quality and lifelong educational opportunities to the general public through career preparation and training.

While most classes are set to begin in August, the Library will kickstart the project by hosting the How to Start a Businessworkshop. Anyone who has ever dreamed of becoming their own boss or just starting their own business is highly encouraged to sign up for this free-of-charge training.

Classes will take place in-person at the Dustin Michael Sekula Memorial Library’s Empowerment Resource Center. This is an instructor-led training scheduled to meet twice a week for two hours each day. The workshop is scheduled to take place on June 16th and 17th from 2 to 4 p.m.

Classes offered at the Library will provide residents with an opportunity to advance in their personal life goals, from learning employable skills to gaining a certification that will enhance their opportunities for employment. While some classes will be free of charge, STC will provide financial aid to qualifying students interested in taking tuition-based courses.

Registration is open! To find out more information on this class or how to register, call the Library and ask for Jose Tamez or Omero Morales at 956-383-6246; or stop by the Dustin Michael Sekula Memorial Library located at 1906 South Closner Boulevard in Edinburg.
