EDINBURG – With the number of COVID-19 cases rising throughout the county, Hidalgo County Tax Assessor-Collector Pablo “Paul” Villarreal Jr., PCC is prioritizing the health and safety of taxpayers and employees by expanding protective measures taken by all tax offices.

“Our offices have made an incredible effort to practice social distancing and monitoring throughout our eight offices,” said Villarreal.  “I will extend the monitoring phase to our visiting customers.”

Effective Monday June 15, customers will have their temperature screened upon entering any county tax office.   Customers must wear facial coverings, practice good hygiene, and social distancing to meet Hidalgo County requirements set by Commissioners Court.

Visitors will not be able to enter county tax offices if they have a temperature of 100 degrees Fahrenheit, or above, or if they do not wear a facial covering.

“We will attempt to make this screening as quick as possible in order to avoid long waits for our customers,” said Villarreal.

Taxpayers are recommended to make property tax payments at www.hidalgotax.org as well as complete motor vehicle renewals at www.texas.gov.  Our office hours are from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.  If you have any questions please contact our office at (956) 318-2157.
