LINN-SAN MANUEL – After years of anticipation, the small rural community of Linn-San Manuel located in northeastern Hidalgo County will now have a county park.  Hidalgo County Precinct 4 Commissioner Ellie Torres in partnership with the Edinburg Consolidated Independent School District (ECISD) is pleased to announce that the construction of the Linn-San Manuel Veterans Park is complete for a full park opening.

A grand opening and ribbon cutting is scheduled for Thursday, August 19 to commemorate the official opening of the park. Social distancing and facial covering is highly encouraged while on the premises.

“Hidalgo County now has a park at the northernmost point of the county for residents to enjoy the outdoors within the comforts of a park setting,” stated Torres. “The park name is a tribute to all veterans past, present and future for the sacrifices made to defend our great country.”  This park project was made possible with the financial commitment and support of the ECISD.  “The partnership between the school district and the county has been very productive in the fast completion of this project,” said Dr. Mario H. Salinas, ECISD Superintendent. “This community was in need of a shared outdoor space where people can come together.”
