Hidalgo County Offices to Delay Start Time Until 10 A.M. on Jan. 26th

EDINBURG – All Hidalgo County offices, including the Hidalgo County Courthouse, will delay their opening until 10 a.m. on Monday, January 26, due to the extreme cold conditions forecasted.

The National Weather Service has issued a Freeze Watch from 9 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 25 until 10 a.m. on Monday, Jan. 26. They also have issued an Extreme Cold Watch Advisory from 3 a.m. Sunday through 8 a.m. on Monday. They warn that a dangerously cold wind chill is expected with temperatures that feel as low as 24 to 31 degrees.

For those jurors who were scheduled to come to the Courthouse, the courts have canceled their jury panels for Monday.

“Our priority is the safety of our residents and county employees,” Hidalgo County Judge Richard F. Cortez said“With these cold conditions, we want to give residents and employees extra time to travel safely. County services will still be available once offices open, and we appreciate everyone’s patience as we take steps to protect our community.”
