MISSION, Texas — Hidalgo County Commissioner Joe Flores invites members of the news media to join him at 3 p.m.
this Saturday as he presents Mission resident Erika Zavala and her family, whose house was destroyed by a tragic fire on March 11, with the keys to her brand new home.
In addition to contributing more than $25,000 of his own money toward the cleanup and construction costs, Commissioner
Flores spearheaded a community-wide effort to raise the funds necessary to build a new 980-square-foot, three-bedroom home for Mrs. Zavala and her five children.
The ceremony will take place at 3 p.m., Saturday, April 18, at the Zavala home at 2410 Buena Fe in Mission,
located between Mile 9 and Mile 10, and La Homa and Moorefield.
Many others contributed substantially to this charitable effort, including Rams Construction, Bazan Plumbing, Jorge De
La Garza, South Texas Surfacing Solutions, Ted Snavely and L&S Building Services.
Those who wish to help are encouraged to make a donation to Charity Account No. #2513641213
