Hidalgo County Budget Officer Sergio Cruz briefed the court with an overview of the 2021 budget process.
County department submittals will begin in June for review, then the budget process will begin in July, said Cruz.
“One of our goals is to identify any opportunities to generate new sources of revenue,” Cruz said.
Additional development criteria for the 2021 Budget includes, but is not limited to, identifying programs that can be reduced or eliminated, adhering to a 90 day hiring freeze for General Fund Vacancies and maintaining operating budget at current level.
