RIO GRANDE VALLEY – The Western Athletic Conference announced on Wednesday that senior Henry Fisher of The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) Vaqueros men’s golf team has been named WAC Golfer of the Week.
Fisher won his first collegiate tournament of his career by winning the individual title at the Gulf Coast Collegiate.
Fisher opened the tournament with a three-under par 69 before following with a two-under par 70 in the second round as he closed out the first day with a share of the lead.
Fisher then used a final round one-under par 71 to win the tournament while helping the Vaqueros climb to a third place finish as a team.
UTRGV will be back in action from March 9-10 at the Colin Montgomerie Invitational, hosted by Houston Baptist University.
