McALLEN, Texas– The Human Bean in McAllen is hosting its Annual Food Drive on Friday, August 8. On this special day, one dollar for every drink sold will be donated to Food Bank of The Rio Grande Valley to support food assistance programs locally.

While many food distribution centers receive donations during the holidays, hunger doesn’t know a season. So each year, The Human Bean opts to host a giveback event during the summer months when pantry stocks are generally low and the need is greater.
“This giveback helps ensure that our neighbors have access to healthy meals during the summer and year-round,” shares Olivia, Local Owner of The Human Bean in McAllen. “Pooling efforts with our team and customers during the Annual Food Drive is a special way of coming together to make sure local needs are met.”
On average, one dollar provides five meals for those in need. Last year, all of The Human Bean locations across the U.S. were able to collectively fund the equivalent of 202,998 meals. Each participating drive-thru chooses a food bank in their community to support.
“Partnering with the Food Bank of The Rio Grande Valley for this event means more meals on tables for families and individuals in Hidalgo County,” adds Olivia. “We’re honored to hold this event to help lighten the load for anyone with barriers to accessing food.”
Customers are invited to visit The Human Bean on August 8 and raise a cup to fight hunger. More information about the Annual Food Drive is available at thehumanbean.com.
