H-E-Bs Donations to Relief Efforts is $1 Million and Growing

DISASTER RELIEF UNITS: Providing aid in times of crisis, H-E-B’s Emergency Response Team has Disaster Relief Units (DRUs) and an H-E-B Mobile Kitchen stationed in Rockport with a second team in Houston. With so many neighborhoods devastated by the storm, our DRUs and Mobile Kitchen will continue to distribute much needed food, supplies and water to those in need.
In Houston, our team will setup support trailers and a Mobile Kitchen at the George R. Brown Convention Center, 1001 Avenida de las Americas. We also have truckloads of water dispatched to the staging area.
We will continue to operate a Mobile Kitchen, Mobile Pharmacy and Mobile Business Center at the H-E-B in Rockport. So far, our teams have already handed out more than 10,000 hot meals and truckloads of water and ice to people in Victoria, Rockport and Aransas Pass.
DONATION RECAP:
Companywide:
- To date, H-E-B has donated a total of $1 million, which includes Food Bank donations, Disaster Relief Units and monetary commitments.
- Hundreds of Partners companywide continue to volunteer where there is need, helping with donation drives, food service and other relief efforts.
- To date, H-E-B has donated more than 62,000 cases of water, or 39 truckloads, to people and communities in need throughout storm affected areas across Texas.
- To date, H-E-B has donated more than 45,000 bags of ice, or 12 truckloads, to communities affected by the storm.
Central Market:
- Central Market stores and Partners have provided more than 1,600 meals to storm victims located at Red Cross shelters in Dallas.
- On Wednesday (Aug. 30), Central Market stores will serve breakfast to three Dallas-area shelters, distributing another 400 meals.
- A Gelato/Ice Cream truck will be deployed to a local Dallas shelter to provide treats to people.
Border:
- H-E-B location in the Upper and Lower Rio Grande Valley are drop-off points and accepting donations for the Food Bank of the Rio Grande Valley.
- Daily, H-E-B volunteer teams are helping to sort through truckloads of donations at the Food Bank of the Rio Grande Valley.
San Antonio:
- Nearly one hundred H-E-B Partners from San Antonio volunteered to help sort donations at the San Antonio Food Bank.
- Several San Antonio H-E-B Pharmacies are filling prescriptions for area shelters.
- More than 100 Partners from the San Antonio region will be deployed to Houston to assist in store recovery and disaster relief as soon as it is safe to enter the city.
Gulf Coast:
- Teams continue to distribute truckloads of water and ice to people in affected communities such as Aransas Pass, Portland and Rockport.
- Partners from across the company and from the Gulf Region have worked tirelessly to reopen stores and restock store shelves with items
Austin:
- H-E-B Partners have distributed a truckload of water to help people affected by flooding in La Grange.
- H-E-B is providing support to 15 shelters across Central Texas with items such as food, baby items and hygiene goods.

HOW TO DONATE: Starting on Wednesday, Aug. 30, people will be able to make monetary donations when using our H-E-B Curbside service and on HEB.com. All monies accepted from the Tear Pad campaign, which we launched in-store this weekend, will benefit the American Red Cross, The Salvation Army and Feeding Texas and their disaster relief efforts.

The Emergency Response Team, is a convoy of more than 15 vehicles, which includes the DRUs, two H-E-B Mobile Kitchens, water and fuel tankers and H-E-B trailers. H-E-B’s DRUs are fully equipped with an H-E-B Pharmacy and mobile Business Services unit, which allows displaced residents to fill prescriptions, cash checks and pay bills, as well as provide access to an ATM. The H-E-B Mobile Kitchens, two 45-foot-long food preparation facilities that are designed to serve up to 6,000 meals per day, are staffed with H-E-B Partners who serve hot meals to first responders and people in need.
