RIO GRANDE VALLEY – The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley (UTRGV) Vaqueros women’s basketball team learned on Monday that graduate student Amara Graham is part of the All-Western Athletic Conference Second Team while sophomore Sara Bershers earned Honorable Mention All-WAC honors, as voted on by the head coaches.
Graham averaged a career-best 15.6 points, 5.6 rebounds, and 2.8 assists in 10 games during WAC play this season. She has reached double-figures in scoring eight of the 10 WAC games, including three 20-point or more games.
Overall, Graham is averaging 16.1 points, 5.2 rebounds, and 2.6 assists in 19 games this season. In the final game of the regular season, Graham became the eighth player in program history to surpass 1,000-career points.
Bershers averaged 14.3 points, 7.2 rebounds, and 2.3 assists in 10 games during WAC play. She has reached double-figure in scoring in seven of the 10 WAC games, including a career-high 25 points against California Baptist. Bershers also recorded her first double-doubles of her career with a 24 point and 13 rebound performance against Seattle U and a 19 point and 12 rebound performance against Utah Valley.
Overall, Bershers is averaging 14.5 points, 6.8 rebounds, and 2.3 assists in 13 games this season.
UTRGV enters the WAC Tournament as the No. 6 seed and will face No. 3 Grand Canyon on Wednesday at 10 p.m. on ESPN+.
