AUSTIN — This week, Governor Greg Abbott selected multiple qualified candidates to serve on behalf of Texans.

Advisory Committee to the Texas Board of Criminal Justice on Offenders with Medical or Mental Impairments – Governor Greg Abbott appointed Blake Harris, Ph.D. and Stacey Mathews and reappointed Trent Marshall and Casey O’Neal, Ph.D. to the Advisory Committee to the Texas Board of Criminal Justice on Offenders with Medical or Mental Impairments for terms set to expire on February 1, 2031. Additionally, the Governor appointed Nelda Cacciotti to the board for a term set to expire on February 1, 2029. The committee advises the board and the director of the Texas Correctional Office on Offenders with Medical or Mental Impairments on matters related to offenders with medical or mental impairments and performs other duties imposed by the board.

Correctional Managed Health Care Committee – Governor Greg Abbott has appointed Brandon Cantazaro, M.D. and Robert Suter, D.O. and reappointed Robert “Bobby” Greenberg, M.D. and Divyansu Patel, M.D. to the Correctional Managed Health Care Committee for terms set to expire on February 1, 2029. Greenberg will continue to serve as chair of the committee. The committee coordinates the development of statewide policies for the delivery of health care within the criminal justice system.

Nueces River Authority Board of Directors – Governor Greg Abbott appointed Gary Krause and Eliza Santos McElhaney to the Nueces River Authority Board of Directors for terms set to expire on February 1, 2031. Additionally, the Governor appointed Mark Moczygemba and Chasey Sanchez, Ed.D. to the board for terms set to expire on February 1, 2027. The Authority shall administer the control, employment, and conservation of the waters of the Nueces River Basin, forestation and reforestation, groundwater, storm water floodwater, water quality control, solid waste, and parks and recreational facilities.

Special Education Continuing Advisory Committee – Governor Greg Abbott appointed Rebecca Faulkner, Felicia Penn, and Kristen Tuttle Urbanovsky and reappointed Claudia Cavazos, April Estrada, Ed.D., and Amy Litzinger to the Special Education Continuing Advisory Committee for terms set to expire on February 1, 2029. The Committee provides policy guidance on special education and related services for children with disabilities in Texas.

Tenth Administrative Judicial Region – Governor Greg Abbott reappointed Alfonso Charles as Presiding Judge of the Tenth Administrative Judicial Region for a term set to expire four years from the date of qualification.

Texas State Board of Education – Governor Greg Abbott reappointed Aaron Kinsey as Chair of the Texas State Board of Education (SBOE) for a term set to expire on April 1, 2028.

Texas State Library and Archives Commission – Governor Greg Abbott appointed Monte Monroe, Ph.D. and Leslie Recine to the Texas State Library and Archives Commission for terms set to expire on September 28, 2031. The Commission serves Texans in four key mission areas: archives management and historical preservation; support for libraries and learning; access to public records; and reading and literacy services.

Upper Neches River Municipal Water Authority Board of Directors – Governor Greg Abbott appointed Philip George to the Upper Neches River Municipal Water Authority Board of Directors for a term set to expire on February 1, 2031. The Board has the responsibility to develop and conserve water resources in the Upper Neches River basin and tributaries located in Anderson, Cherokee, Smith, and Henderson Counties.
