MISSION, Texas—U.S. Customs and Border Protection, Office of Field Operations (OFO) at the Anzalduas International Bridge apprehended Jose Arnulfo Pena Monarrez, a male Mexican citizen from Fort Worth, Texas who had an arrest warrant associated with child-related sex crimes.
“CBP Field Operations is always vigilant in apprehending those wanted persons with outstanding warrants, especially those allegedly involved in heinous crimes of a sexual nature with children,” said Port Director Carlos Rodriguez, Port of Hidalgo/Pharr/Anzalduas.
On March 18, 2022, the 52-year-old man arrived from Mexico at the Anzalduas International Bridge and a CBP officer immediately secured him after discovering Pena was a possible match to an arrest warrant. Once in secondary, biometric verification confirmed his identity along with the active arrest warrant from the Tarrant County Sheriff’s Office in Fort Worth, Texas. Pena had this outstanding warrant stemming from allegations from an incident in August of 2019. He is charged with alleged child fondling, a second-degree felony.
A Mission Police officer arrived to take custody of Pena and transported him to the county jail.
Criminal charges are merely allegations. Defendants are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.
