McAllen, TEXAS – GR Fresh in McAllen invites members of the news media to attend a groundbreaking ceremony from 9:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, February 20, 2020, at the location of their future facility at the Sharyland Business Park, Honduras Lot 7, McAllen, TX 78503.
GR Fresh is an integrated agri-food company dedicated to the production, distribution, and transportation of fresh produce. With more than 70 years of growing experience, they have firmly rooted themselves in the fresh produce industry and stick by firm beliefs in sustainability, social responsibility, and excellence in safe food production. Thanks to their two-decade-long presence in McAllen, they are ready to enter demanding domestic markets to develop partnerships that share their goals and vision.
GR Fresh will be expanding its presence in McAllen with a brand-new warehouse of 110,000 square feet. The current GR Fresh location is about a third of the future site, therefore the new facility will bring 50 new jobs to McAllen. The new McAllen facility will host operations including Consolidation, Repacking, and Improved operational efficiencies. GR Fresh manages 8,000 acres in Mexico that produce fruits and vegetables to be exported throughout North America through partnerships with various national grocers. Â
Aside from growing and exporting fresh produce around North America, International relations are a top value for GR Fresh, thus the company has established its own social responsibility program: Agro for People. This program has an existing partnership with the City of McAllen Recycling Center and takes part in the compost program of which is sold to residents and non-residents of McAllen.
