Texas Border Business
HARLINGEN, TEXAS – Kauffman FastTrac is a program for aspiring entrepreneurs or current business owners. Participants receive a crash course in business skills and insight tools, resources, and connect business owners with networks that are important to a successful business.
The Harlingen Economic Development Corporation (HEDC) is sponsoring the 7-session course that begins April 21 with a completion date of June 2. The courses will be held at the TSTC University Center, 2424 Boxwood Street, Harlingen. Classes are led by the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley’s Entrepreneurship and Commercialization Center.
“The overall goal is to have entrepreneurs develop a solid framework to support the start of their business,” Maria Villalon, UTRGV Kauffman instructor explained.
“My hope is that they understand how their role will grow and that they gain knowledge to prepare them to fill those roles.”
Villalon added that each class aligns the participants’ business concept with real market opportunity. They are given activities to survey their community and find gaps in what they feel is lacking or needs that are common within their community.
The program will focus on specific topics:
- Identify Market Needs
- Understand Business Fundamentals
- Explore Risk and Success Factors
- Network with Entrepreneurship Professionals
- Build a Business Plan
- Access the Human, Financial and Business Resources
“This is a great and proven course that will benefit our local entrepreneurs,” Raudel Garza, HEDC CEO, said.
“Owning a business is a lot of work and we want every business to succeed. We are happy to provide a course that gives entrepreneurs the tools they need to succeed.”
The application includes a series of questions that must be filled out accurately. Only 10 participants will be selected for the program. If interested, please apply by following the link.
