AUSTIN, TX — Republican Fred Hinojosa formally filed his candidacy for United States Congress at the Republican Party of Texas headquarters, taking the next step in his campaign to represent Texas’ 34th Congressional District with strong, principled, conservative leadership.
Hinojosa, a Hispanic conservative and lifelong South Texan, emphasized that the district deserves a representative who will stand up for border security, defend Texas families, and fight against the reckless spending and radical policies coming from Washington.
“Our district needs a real conservative voice, someone who will defend our border, strengthen our economy, and protect our communities,” Hinojosa said. “I am running to bring South Texas values to Congress and to ensure our families and our future are never an afterthought in Washington.”
Hinojosa has built his candidacy around restoring public safety, securing the border, promoting job growth, and defending faith, family, and freedom. He has been outspoken about the need to hold the federal government accountable for failures that directly impact South Texas, including the historic crisis at the southern border.
“The problems we face in South Texas are real, and they demand real solutions,” Hinojosa said. “Filing today marks the beginning of a new chapter in this fight. I intend to take the grit, determination, and values of our communities with me to Congress.”
The Republican primary will be held on March 3, 2026.
