CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas – Fred Hinojosa, a longtime Republican activist and Nueces County native with deep family roots in Cameron County going back generations, has announced his campaign for Congress in Texas’ 34th District. Fred has spent more than a decade helping elect conservatives from Corpus Christi through the Coastal Bend and down to the Rio Grande Valley. Now, he is stepping forward to lead the fight himself.
Fred’s brother, Adam Hinojosa, has already proven what many said couldn’t be done, making history as the first Republican to represent the Rio Grande Valley in the State Senate since the Reconstruction Era. Backed by President Donald Trump, Governor Greg Abbott, Attorney General Ken Paxton, and Lieutenant Governor Dan Patrick, Adam’s success showed that South Texas is ready for strong conservative leadership, and Fred is stepping up to carry that fight to Washington.
Fred graduated from the Del Mar Regional Police Academy, where he learned the discipline and commitment required to keep communities safe, lessons that have shaped his long-standing involvement in Republican politics. Since 2002, he has stood as a proven Republican, helping elect one of the first countywide Republicans in a then Democrat-dominated Nueces County and voting consistently with conservative values ever since. In 2010, Fred became a Republican State Delegate, a role he continues to hold today, bringing more than 23 years of dedication to advancing Republican principles and building conservative momentum across the Coastal Bend and Rio Grande Valley.
Fred will take that same drive to Washington. He knows South Texas families are being squeezed by rising costs, threatened by open border policies, and undermined by divisive DEI agendas. He believes the oil and gas industry that fuels America and feeds local families must be defended from radical overreach, and he will fight to make sure South Texas remains an energy powerhouse that secures our nation’s independence.
This race is about more than one district. Democrats are redrawing maps across the country to try to seize control of Congress. Fred Hinojosa knows that winning in South Texas is the key to keeping a Republican majority in the U.S. House, and he is determined to deliver that victory.
For Fred, this campaign is not about political ambition; it is about protecting South Texas values, backing the men and women who wear the badge, and ensuring that Washington is accountable to the people it serves. He has been on the front lines of Republican victories for years, and now he is ready to bring that fight to Congress.
