EDINBURG – As COVID-19 cases and deaths continue to rise, Hidalgo County Health officials reported a single day high record of 49 deaths due to complications related to the novel coronavirus, Hidalgo County Judge Richard F. Cortez said Tuesday. Another 339 people tested positive today bringing the total number of positive cases to 13,126.

“My heart is heavy as I send my deepest condolences to the friends and families who lost a loved one to this disease,” said Judge Cortez. “As we move forward each day, I urge you all to take the advice from our medical experts and continue to practice proper hygiene, wear a mask, stay at least 6-feet apart, stop congregating, and don’t leave your home unless it’s necessary.”

There are 7,286 net active cases and 207 people were released from isolation on Tuesday meaning that they have been symptom-free for 10 days, including three days without a fever.
