PALMVIEW, Texas – Former Palmview City Councilwoman, local business owner, and community leader Linda Sarabia announced she will run for mayor of Palmview in the upcoming May election. Sarabia is running on a platform to “Rescue, Restore, and Rebuild” the City of Palmview as it faces the considerable challenge of fixing city streets that were damaged as a result of failed sewer projects which have negatively impacted the overall quality of life of Palmview residents.
On announcing her candidacy, Sarabia stated, “I’m running for mayor to help rescue this city from the disastrous infrastructure projects that have not only failed to improve our streets but have essentially broken them, to restore trust to the mayor’s office through transparency and accountability, and to rebuild this city to one which we can all be proud of. It’s time for Palmview to have a mayor that is present, accessible, and ready to get to work. And that’s the kind of mayor I will be for the citizens of Palmview.”
Sarabia is a proven leader in the community, having served as a Palmview Councilwoman from 2016 to 2020. Throughout her tenure, she served with distinction and purpose and worked hard to provide residents with a 24/7 fire department and EMS service, the city’s first public library, and expanded youth services such as folklorico and a youth advisory council – all while lowering the property tax rate. “As a councilwoman, I was known as a problem-solver and worked hard every day to provide the citizens of Palmview with real results to improve their quality of life. I was a good steward of their taxpayer dollars and maintained an open-door policy to ensure that their voices and concerns were heard, and their problems addressed,” said Sarabia.
Sarabia is a successful businesswoman and has owned and operated Sarabia Financial Services in Palmview for over 23 years. As a business and financial consultant, Sarabia possesses the budgeting and finance experience needed to manage a city effectively. Under Sarabia’s experienced leadership, the city established its first-ever finance and human resources department and restored the revolving loan program to aid small and emerging businesses.
Sarabia is an advocate for small business owners and economic development. She is the founder and first president of the Palmview Chamber of Commerce, where she has served since 2012 and has also served as a director of the first Municipal Development District (MDD) Board of the City of Palmview for six years. Through her involvement in the MDD, she passionately spearheaded retail recruitment efforts to acquire prime property for Palmview Main Street Development, Silver Spur Apartments, Matt’s Cash and Carry, and many others.
The city of Palmview municipal elections will be held on Saturday, May 7, 2022. Early voting will take place from April 25 to May 3.
