Harlingen, TX – The Food Bank of the Rio Grande Valley will hold its first ever MASS Drive-Thru Emergency Pantry (DTEP) in Cameron County on Wednesday, April 28, 2021 at the Harlingen Soccer Complex from 7:00 am – 10:00 am, or until capacity is reached. This large-scale event will enable the Food Bank RGV to serve up to 2,000 families, an increase of almost 3 times the normal capacity.
The Food Bank RGV Cameron County MASS Drive-Thru Emergency Pantry, will follow the Food Bank RGV’s Drive-Thru mobile model, with little or no contact. Staff, volunteers, city staff, and members of the Texas Army National Guard will assist with the distribution of food. Produce, protein, and shelf-stable bags of food will be placed directly into the vehicle trunks of attendees.
Anyone in need of assistance, from any city, may attend the distribution. There will be a limit of 2 families (2 people) per car to receive assistance. ID and proof of address are requested. All vehicle occupants must wear face coverings and car trunks must be completely empty. The Harlingen Soccer Complex is located at 4515 E. Harrison Ave, Harlingen, TX, 78550.
