Pharr, TX – The Food Bank RGV received a generous grant of $12,000 from the Darden Foundation to assist in their efforts of providing help to children facing hunger.
Their grant allowed the Food Bank RGV to sustain the Emergency Food Pantry, where the parents of low-income and food insecure children can receive food assistance including shelf-stable foods and fresh produce. Since July 2017, a total of 10,978 children received food from the Emergency Food Pantry.
“Anywhere from 1 in 4 to 1 in 2 children in the Rio Grande Valley struggle with hunger,” Libby Salinas, Chief Program Officer, said. “Grants like this one from the Darden Foundation go a long way in helping us combat childhood hunger.”
