Edinburg, TX – In honor of Hunger Action Month, the Food Bank RGV will be partnering with Boggus Auto Group, to host its inaugural Sunset Drive-Thru Emergency Pantry (DTEP) on Wednesday, September 16, 2020, from 4 pm – 7 pm or until capacity is reached, at the Food Bank RGV. This very first of its kind evening distribution will enable the Food Bank RGV to distribute food to clients who are normally unable to attend during the regular DTEP hours due to work or school schedules.
This distribution is made possible through the generous support of Boggus Ford McAllen. “Since 1993, Boggus Auto Group has been committed to the people of the Rio Grande Valley. The Sunset DTEP will follow the Food Bank RGV’s mobile drive-thru model with little or no contact. Staff, volunteers, and the Boggus Auto Group team will assist with the distribution of food. Produce and shelf-stable bags of food will be placed into the vehicle trunks of attendees.
This one-day ONLY Sunset Drive-Thru Emergency Pantry distribution, replaces the Food Bank RGV’s regularly scheduled Wednesday, 7 am – 10 am Drive-Thru Emergency Pantry this week only. The Food Bank RGV’s DTEP distribution will resume normal hours again next Wednesday, September 23, 2020, at the Food Bank RGV from 7 am – 10 am or until capacity is reached.
There will be a limit of 2 families (2 people) per car to receive assistance. ID and proof of address are required. All vehicle occupants must wear face coverings and car trunks must be completely empty. Distribution will be first come, first served.
The Food Bank RGV is planning to hold a Sunset DTEP (Drive-thru Emergency Pantry) distribution once a month to serve clients who have work or school conflicts and are unable to attend during the regularly scheduled DTEP hours.
