Food Bank RGV Announces the Appointment of Co-Chief Executive Officers

PHARR, TX – The Food Bank of the Rio Grande Valley Board of Directors are happy to announce the appointment of Connie Ramos and Libby Salinas as co-Chief Executive Officers, effective June 14, 2021. 

Over the past year, the Food Bank RGV has seen an increase in both the demand for food and in the number of families served. The joint appointment will widen the platform for growth and help meet future demand. Ramos and Salinas will jointly drive performance and development, with complementary focus areas. Ramos will oversee finance and administration and Salinas will oversee food bank operations and programs. Ramos and Salinas have a combined total of 27 years of food bank leadership experience. 

Previously, Ramos served as the Food Bank RGV’s Chief Financial Officer. Before joining the Food Bank RGV in 2019, Connie Ramos was the Finance Manager with the El Pasoans Fighting Hunger Food Bank. Ramos worked with the food bank for 6 years helping shape the organization into a successful food relief operation.

“I am honored to be part of such a dynamic team and to lead this organization as co-CEO. Within our food bank there’s already a culture of togetherness and I know that we will continue to work to make an impact on the community,” Ramos said.   

Libby Salinas has worked with the Food Bank RGV for more than 20 years and has served both as the Chief Programs and Equity Officer and as Chief Operations Officer. Throughout the years, Salinas served on the front lines, organizing mass distributions, coordinating logistics, and managing natural disaster and crisis response. 

“The Valley is my home.  I know what is at stake for the RGV and the impact of our work on the community.   I am excited about the future and how we can work together to improve the lives and health of the families we serve,” Salinas said. 

The new co-CEOs will oversee over 65 employees with a network of 275 Partner Agencies, feeding up to 103,000 people per week in Cameron, Hidalgo, and Willacy counties.
