Texas Border Business –

By Roberto Hugo Gonzalez,

When was the last time you had money and did not know what to do with it? Believe it or not, there are a lot of people in situations like this, not knowing how to keep money safe and not knowing how to grow it.  This problem occurs in many families and individuals. But in defense of those that do not know, it’s because it is not an easy thing.

Investments are now very difficult and complicated when people do not have the training and the practice to be able to do it.

Texas Border Business met with Mathew T. Mierzycki, a financial advisor with Edward Jones in Mission, Texas.

He attended the University of Illinois and transferred to the Pan American University and now he is one of our own.

He was born in Chicago Illinois. “My mother’s name is Margaret and I lost my dad when I was one year of age; my mother never remarried.”

But the question is what is it he does as a financial advisor?  “Very simply I change people’s lives”. He said, “I meet with people to find out what goals they have in life to get a better understanding. What do they want to do in relation to their family, and personal goals? I use tools that I have like stocks, bonds, mutual funds, life insurance, advance planning, estate planning, and annuities to help them reach whatever those goals are.”

Mathew has been doing this for the last five years, and currently manages about 26 million dollars. “I have four licenses, that credit me and allow me to be a financial advisor, and a lot of people don’t have those credentials and qualifications.”

He said that what makes his company unique is his personal participation with his clients. “I have a personal relationship with them. I know their family, their goals and dreams and they know that I will return their calls.” He said, “I build lifelong relationships with my clients because money is very sensitive and who you are doing business matters.”

Mathew relies on his good work with clients, because that usually activates the word of mouth recommendations. He said, “For me it is very important that people that I do business with tell other people about me. I do my own promotion by attending to civic gatherings in the community and making sure of introducing myself.”

But how is it possible for one man to do all of it? Well in his case he has someone that is very dedicated and helps him in every way to manage the business. He pointed out that Gloria Robertson is the office manager. He said, “She also handles my calendar and makes sure to attend to every client’s needs as well.  Her relationship with our clients is as important as the one I have with them.”

He stated that he went into this business because he likes to interact with people and the other very important factor is that he is very good with numbers. “I enjoy math and that eventually took me to financing which led me to be a financial advisor for people.”

He told Texas Border Business that he wants to be the professional that when people need a solution, a plan or they have an objective that they need met, they can call him for advice. He wants to be part of their team.

He is a proud member of the Mission Chamber of Commerce and a member with the Lyons Club.
