HIDALGO COUNTY, Texas – In honor of Responsible Pet Owners Month this February, Hidalgo County Precinct 3 is proud to strengthen its ongoing partnership with Yaqui Animal Rescue by launching their “Fill the Bucket” challenge. This community-wide pet and farm animal supply drive will provide essential resources to animals in need while fostering a culture of responsible pet ownership across Precinct 3.
From February 3 to February 21, residents can support this cause by donating pet and farm animal supplies at designated drop-off locations, including the Hidalgo County Precinct 3 Administration Office in Mission, TX. Large collection buckets will be placed throughout the community to gather much-needed items for dogs, cats, horses, cows, pigs, and other farm animals under Yaqui Animal Rescue’s care.

Dry and wet food for dogs and cats |

Cleaning supplies such as Dawn soap and bleach |

This year, the initiative is growing with the enthusiastic support of Sharyland ISD, Mission CISD, and IDEA schools, where over 87 classrooms have committed to collecting supplies for Yaqui Animal Rescue. This expansion highlights the collective dedication of local schools, businesses, and residents in ensuring the welfare of vulnerable animals in Hidalgo County.
Yaqui Animal Rescue, a longstanding partner of Hidalgo County Precinct 3, has been instrumental in rescuing and rehabilitating countless animals in Precinct 3. Through this initiative, Precinct 3 reaffirms its commitment to supporting their mission and strengthening collaborative efforts to provide shelter, medical care, and resources to animals in need.
Commissioner Everardo “Ever” Villarreal, who has championed this initiative, emphasized the importance of community involvement. “Our partnership with Yaqui Animal Rescue is about more than just providing supplies—it’s about creating a lasting impact on the lives of animals and strengthening our community’s commitment to responsible pet ownership.
