Federal Disaster Declaration Granted Following Severe Weather In The Rio Grande Valley

AUSTIN – On July 10th, Governor Abbott sent a letter to President Trump requesting a Presidential Disaster Declaration for three counties in the Rio Grande Valley that sustained severe weather and flooding causing widespread damage. Today, the President granted Governor Abbott’s request that will provide Individual Assistance for those in Cameron, Hidalgo, and Willacy counties.  

“I am grateful to the President and FEMA for granting Texas’ request for assistance following severe storms and flooding in the Valley,” said Governor Abbott. “The Lone Star State remains committed to working with our local and federal partners to ensure Texans have the resources they need to recover from these storms as quickly as possible.” 

Individual Assistance includes up to $34,000 per household for damages sustained during the severe weather. For more information on how to apply for Individual Assistance, residents of this three counties can call 1-800-621-FEMA or visit www.disasterassistance.gov
