The city of Mission has a new playground in town! The Extreme Generation Playscape, located at Bannworth Park, promises to be a fun, safe space for children ages 5-12 to develop physically, socially, and cognitively.
In November 2021, the Mission Council approved the purchase and installation of this playscape. The new structure replaces the previous aging playground installed in the 1980s.
The rope course-inspired playground and enclosed skyways provide a breathtaking effect while keeping children safe. Along with some of the tallest and longest enclosed slides in the industry, the new playground includes the following:
- Towers with a variety of challenging climbing paths
- The highest visual element is 25 feet tall, making it one of the highest play structures in the RGV
- The safe fall material (turf) allows for complete wheelchair accessibility
- A “10 Spin” similar version to the traditional “Merry-Go-Round”
- A 24-foot-long Sky Bridge
In addition, there are two new sidewalks available allowing for increased accessibility. The city of Mission’s goal is to provide resources and amenities for children to spend more time outdoors and bring families together for years to come.
