The Rio Grande Valley will be experiencing an extreme cold warning from 3 AM To 9 AM CST Tuesday.  AfFreeze warning remains in effect From 3 AM To 10 AM CST Tuesday. A cold weather advisory remains in effect From 6 PM Tuesday to 9 AM CST Wednesday. In addition, A freeze watch remains in effect from Tuesday Evening through Wednesday morning. The Rio Grande Valley will be experiencing an extreme cold warning from 3 AM To 9 AM CST Tuesday.  AfFreeze warning remains in effect From 3 AM To 10 AM CST Tuesday. A cold weather advisory remains in effect From 6 PM Tuesday to 9 AM CST Wednesday. In addition, A freeze watch remains in effect from Tuesday Evening through Wednesday morning.

An extreme cold warning, encompassing dangerously cold wind chills as low as 16 is expected to move through the RGV.  A freeze warning with sub-freezing temperatures as low as 30 expected as well, and weather advisory with very cold wind chills as low as 16 is possible. There is also a Freeze Watch with sub-freezing temperatures as low as 24. 

• Coastal Cameron, Coastal Kenedy, Coastal Willacy, Inland Cameron, Inland Willacy, Northern Hidalgo, Southern Hidalgo, and Starr Counties are all in the warning areas.

• Freeze Watch, from Tuesday evening through Wednesday morning.

Frostbite and hypothermia will occur if unprotected skin is exposed to these temperatures. Death is possible to unprepared people and pets. An extended period of freezing temperatures could cause ruptured water pipes. Wind chill values can lead to hypothermia with prolonged exposure. Take steps now to finish protecting cold sensitive plants and crops. Frost and freeze conditions could damage crops, other sensitive vegetation and possibly damage unprotected outdoor plumbing.

Thake the following Precautionary/Preparedness Actions:
 
Dress in layers including a hat, face mask, and gloves if you must
go outside. Death is possible to people exposed to the extreme cold.
 
Rush to completion prevent water pipes from freezing; wrap or drain
or allow them to drip slowly.
 
Keep pets indoors as much as possible.
 
Make sure outdoor animals have a warm, dry shelter, food, and
unfrozen water.
 
Make frequent checks on older family, friends, and neighbors. Ensure
portable heaters are used correctly. Do not use generators or grills
inside.
 
Monitor the latest forecasts and warnings for updates.
 
Prepare to dress in layers including a hat, face mask, and gloves if
you must go outside. Death is possible to people exposed to the
extreme cold.
 
Prepare to keep pets indoors as much as possible.
 
Make frequent checks on older family, friends, and neighbors. If the
power goes out, make sure to have blankets and several layers of
clothing to stay warm. Death is possible to people exposed to the
extreme cold.
 
Ensure portable heaters are used correctly and in safe operating
conditions. Never use generators inside homes, garages, or carports.
 
Use caution while traveling outside. Wear appropriate clothing, a
hat, and gloves.
 
Sensitive outdoor plants may be damaged by frost if left uncovered.
