McAllen Holiday Parade Traffic Changes
As the City of McAllen prepares for the 2025 McAllen Holiday Parade, presented by H-E-B and powered by Bert Ogden Auto Group, residents are reminded that continued lane and road closures along Bicentennial Blvd., from La Vista Avenue to Pecan Blvd., are necessary between now and Saturday to ensure a safe and successful event.
City of McAllen Parks & Recreation and Traffic Operations crews are working diligently to prepare the parade route and ask motorists traveling along Bicentennial Blvd. for patience and cooperation during this final phase of setup. Beginning Friday, December 5, 2025, at 9:00 a.m., the outer lanes along Bicentennial Blvd. from La Vista Avenue to Pecan Blvd. will close. A full closure of Bicentennial Blvd. between Tamarack Avenue and Pecan Blvd. will begin at 1:00 p.m. This section will reopen on Sunday, December 7, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. Once reopened, City crews will secure the parade route with the closure of Bicentennial Blvd. north to La Vista Avenue.
Motorists are strongly encouraged to allow additional travel time or use alternate routes to avoid congestion. For real-time updates on lane and road closures near McAllen Veterans Memorial Stadium, please follow the City of McAllen on social media or visit www.mcallenholidayparade.com.
Visitors attending Christmas in the Park and the McAllen Holiday Parade are encouraged to use the free Polar Express Park & Ride, operating from 12:00 p.m. to 12:00 a.m. midnight on Saturday, December 6, 2025. Guests can park at South Texas College on Pecan Blvd. and ride the City of McAllen Polar Express buses, which will drop off attendees along 23rd Street at Quince Avenue. Strollers, wheelchairs, and service animals are welcome.
The City of McAllen thanks all residents and visitors for their patience and support as we prepare to welcome thousands to the largest and most spectacular holiday parade in the region. We look forward to celebrating safely and joyfully with our community.
