ALAMO – Hidalgo County Precinct 1 Commissioner David L. Fuentes, along with residents of Alberta Acres in Alamo, took a step forward in enhancing the safety and well-being of the community with the installation of new streetlights.

The installation is part of the Hidalgo County Unincorporated Subdivision Street Lights Program. Rural residents can fill out an application and apply for the program with their respective precinct.

Residents of the newly-lit neighborhood now have a safer environment to enjoy in the evening hours.  This endeavor comes at a critical time when day-time hours have reached a high level of heat, and outdoor enjoyment tends to commence more towards sun-down.

“We are excited for the community of Alberta Acres,” said Fuentes.  “Their safety is our priority, and having illuminated roads, commuting walkways, and play areas for children creates security and encourages outdoor activity for all.”

La Unión del Pueblo Entero (LUPE) hosted a neighborhood gathering to celebrate the new streetlight installation.  The efforts have made a positive impact by enhancing the quality of life for all residents of Alberta Acres.
